Giraffe, Glasgow City Centre

Giraffe

Having never been to Giraffe (West Regent St) before, we were excited to attend the launch of their new cocktail, the ‘giraffe’s Heid’, a refreshing mixture of whisky & ginger ale (their take on the ’Horses Neck’ cocktail with some tasty extras, even for non-whisky drinkers!).

Giraffe

The place itself has a relaxed feel, due to the stripped wood décor and soft lighting, the samba music suiting diners of all ages and cocktail connoisseurs alike.   We were treated to some delicious bites, highlights being the falafel burger and chicken quesadilla, washed down with a concoction from the extensive bar, a ‘Strawberry Mule’, a sweet warming mixture of vodka, lime, ginger beer and cassis, with a tasty mango sorbet for afters.  This restaurant offers a wide range of food from different continents and isn’t scared to stick its neck out by putting its own twist on a wide range of cocktails.

Opening Night at the Trading House Glasgow

Opening Night

Just8 was delighted last week to be invited to the opening night of the newly opened Trading House in Glasgow (St Vincent Street, opp Cafe Andaluz). The venue has a real old world historical feel to it with a beautifully converted old building. With a vast selection of cocktails, craft beers, wine etc plus a variety of different food, I think this is a place to rival the likes of Browns. I discovered by new favorite cocktail – a ‘lemon and anise sour.’ The Trading House is a great addition to Glasgow’s bars and restaurants.

PS Did you see that big cart led by horses outside Queen Street station? That was advertisement for this new venue!
